The priority for 2018 was to get the long borders planted in preparation for events happening in the garden the following year. In October the plants were delivered and a small team of us spent a day getting everything planted.
The Master Layout and Planting Plans have been drawn up for the family garden, which is due to be built in 2019.
What did the owners say?
“I was feeling overwhelmed and slightly depressed about my garden before we met. You really listened and took onboard everything I said. Now I feel really excited!”
The owners of this property in the village of South Cerney were really keen to update their large garden. They had tried a few things but nothing seemed to work. They wanted to improve two areas of their garden.
Firstly they wanted to revitalise the long borders that span the width of the garden beside the arch in the distance in the picture. These used to be full of plants and very colourful but had sadly fallen into decline in recent years.
They also wanted to complete re-design of the area nearest to the house and to reclaim it as a family space, separating it from the much larger garden beyond. In this area there needed to be somewhere to sit, somewhere to entertain family and friends, a vegetable garden and some espaliered fruit trees.
The owners were keen to have a cottage garden feel in both areas with bright colours rather than pale pastels.
The is my planting mood board which shows the types of plants and colours I suggested for the garden.
